Artist Tries Hand at Fixing Ancient Art - Fails

The generously-proportioned bottoms and bulges of Renaissance beauties have been slimmed down by Italian artist Anna Utopia Giordano to illustrate changing perceptions of feminine allure.
Miss Giordano used Photoshop to slim down famous buxom nudes by Botticelli and Titian and bring them into line with 21st century concepts of what women should ideally look like...

Miss Giordano, who is also a model and actress, took 10 famous Venuses by Titian, Francesco Hayez, J. A. D. Ingres and other artists, and subjected them to a digital makeover. The slimmed-down, 21st century versions of some of art's most celebrated masterpieces, including Botticelli's The Birth of Venus (1485), look positively skinny, even anorexic, compared to the originals.

Yep, definitely a more "Playboy" version.  However, a search of my Art directories for "Venus" finds some counter examples...

Jonas Åkerström "Venus, Adonis and Amor"  1793-95
Jonas Åkerström "Bacchus and Ariadne" 1790s
David - "Mars Disarmed By Venus" - 1824
Cranach The Elder Lucas "Venus With Cupid The Honey Thief"
So maybe it's just personal preference on the part of the artist.  And yes, there are a lot more full figured examples.  A few Adeles in the mix...

Titian - "Venus with a Mirror"
